Acoustic Folk Rock

Naked Blue

Naked_Blue.jpg (68224 bytes)

Whether performing as a duo, trio or full band, Naked Blue's quirky and heartfelt acoustic pop harmonies, pleasingly crunchy guitars and fun loving attitude have been charming East Coast audiences at every show. Award winning songwriters, they have a fresh yet familiar sound and have been compared by the press to Fleetwood Mac, Sheryl Crow and Shawn Colvin. Since 1995 they have recorded 4 albums. Their songs have been featured on 'The Young & the Restless' & 'Brooklyn South' and in the films 'The Girl Next Door', 'The Smokers', 'About Sarah' and 'Sex, Drugs and Democracy'.

Modern Icons

Categorize them if you can.  Good Luck.  they have been described as "Peter, Paul & Mary on mescaline."  They've been accused of "exposing {their} hearts and guts on stage."  They mesmerize audiences with haunting minimalist refrains and electrify them with their raw intensity.  Armed with merely a violin, acoustic guitar, and stand-up bass, Modern Icons deliver a creative and passionately organic musical experience.

Nancy Falkow

While Nancy's talent and craft have been the reason for her success, her widely respected do-it-yourself attitude is also key.  Through the force of her motivation and determination she has single-handedly earned the recognition of the most demanding of Philadelphia music critics, the elite of New York Anti-Folk scene, and judges of the Lilith Fair.  Nancy was honored as the winner in the Philadelphia are Lilith Fair Talent Search, which culminated with an appearance with Sarah McLachlan and the Indigo Girls to a sold-out crowd of 25,000!  Nancy won Best Folk Performer 2002 and was nominated for the 2001 Best Folk Artist (Singer, Songwriter), 2000 Best Female Vocalist (alongside Jill Scott and others!) in the Philadelphia City Paper Music Awards, and also in both 1999 & 2000 for Best Folk Artic (Singer-Songwriter).  Her self-titled debut EP received much critical acclaim and is still played on radio stations from Philadelphia to New England to London, England!  Hers were the infectious songs that first caught the ear of Steve Madden Shoes (a major shoe and accessory company), who featured her as their first official music spotlight, and then, to top it all off, sponsored a recent tour!  Recently songs from her album Smitten appeared on MTV's Undressed!  He song "It Could've Been Anyone" has been added to the soundtrack for the movie Emmett's Mark, starring Tim Roth and Gabriel Byrne!  Nancy's first major label singing credit (background vocals on 8 songs) was on Wood's Songs From Stamford Hill (Columbia) a AAA, critically acclaimed release of 1999. Check out the song "Shy Girl" on G Love & Special Sauce's Electric Mile (Epic) and you'll hear there, too!

We're About 9

Were_About_9.jpg (84545 bytes)

We're About 9 takes the stage with a current of joy, a parade of articulate banter, and heart-breaking harmonies.  Three voices, two acoustic guitars, electric bass and djembe fill the room with intricate, lush textures.  The coffee line disappears.  The seats fill.  Eyes wide open.  This three-part harmony-singer-songwriter-adult-alternative- contemporary-americana-folk-niche-group packs a surprise punch with an absolutely unique and powerful vocal blend; mercilessly charming stage presence; and passionate, quirky, compelling, literate songs. The We're About 9 vocal blend draws frequent comparisons to Crosby, Still and Nash and represents other influences such as the Nields and Cry, Cry, Cry.
